The Corner coffee tables by WEWOOD, designed by Pierre Dubourg in 2019, were conceived to challenge one of the most traditional elements in table construction: the position of the legs.

The structure is developed through a distinctive arrangement of the supports that ensures stability while simultaneously leaving the corners of the top free.

This technical choice becomes the starting point for an essential yet highly recognizable design in which solid wood, marble and joinery details play a central role.

A New Position for the Legs

The Corner concept originates from a reinterpretation of the classic coffee table structure.

Instead of placing the supports directly at the corners, the design moves them into carefully considered positions that maintain the required stability while visually freeing the perimeter.

The result is a more dynamic structure in which the construction itself contributes to the aesthetic identity of the piece.

This solution also highlights the relationship between top and base, transforming the connection point between the two elements into one of the most characteristic details of the design.

Solid Wood and Marble

Corner combines the warm, natural presence of solid wood with the elegant, polished surface of marble.

The contrast between the two materials creates a rich yet balanced composition:

  • wood introduces warmth, grain and material character;
  • marble adds a more mineral, refined and luminous surface.

The precision of the joint between the support and the top further emphasizes this relationship, highlighting both the quality of the materials and the craftsmanship.

Rectangular or Round

The Corner collection is available in two different geometries.

The rectangular version features generous, linear proportions, while the round version introduces a softer and more continuous silhouette.

Both retain the same design language and the same distinctive relationship between the top and its supports.

This choice allows Corner to adapt to different types of living spaces, selecting the form that best suits the layout of the room and the surrounding furniture.

Used Individually or in a Composition

Corner can be used as a standalone coffee table, while the rectangular version has also been designed to be combined with other elements from the same collection.

By placing several tables together, it is possible to create a larger and more articulated surface in which the construction details and geometries of the tops generate a more complex overall composition.

This possibility allows a single furnishing element to become a true central composition for the living area.

Construction Details as Protagonists

One of the most refined aspects of the design is the distinctive joint between the leg and the top, present in both the rectangular and round versions.

The connection is not concealed but deliberately highlighted, becoming an integral part of the coffee table’s aesthetic identity.

The meeting of different surfaces emphasizes the contrast between polished marble and solid wood, underlining the precision of the construction and the artisanal quality of the product.

Corner therefore interprets the coffee table through a balance of structural innovation, geometric simplicity and material richness.

Designer

Pierre Dubourg is a product designer with specialist training in product design.

In 2018, he joined Arik Levy’s studio, taking on the role of project manager in the fields of furniture and industrial design.

Since 2013, he has also developed his own professional activity, collaborating with craftsmen and companies including Hartô, Édition Versant, Airbus, Monolithe Edition and Dasras.

He is also art director of Monolithe Edition and teaches product design.

Corner reflects his approach through an apparently simple solution based on precise structural research, in which the positioning of the supports and the joint detail become fundamental elements of the product’s identity.
