The Bridge desk by WEWOOD, designed by Christophe de Sousa in 2018, was created from a reference strongly connected to the city of Porto and its architectural identity.
The design takes inspiration from the six bridges crossing the Douro River, translating their forms, structure and meaning into a desk with a contemporary and minimalist language.
The surfaces feature soft lines and rounded transitions, while the combination of wood and steel creates an elegant contrast between material warmth and structural precision.
A Tribute to Porto’s Bridges
The most distinctive element of Bridge is represented by the steel arches connecting the legs, a direct reference to the structures of Porto’s bridges.
These metal details discreetly interrupt the continuity of the wood, creating a distinctive visual element without compromising the overall essential character of the desk.
The result is a composition in which form and structure interact naturally: wood provides warmth and elegance, while steel introduces a more architectural and industrial reference.
Oak or Walnut
Bridge is available in oak or walnut, two wood species capable of interpreting the clean forms of the design in different ways.
Wood characterizes the desktop and structure of the desk, highlighting its natural grain and tones, while the steel arches create a refined material contrast.
The combination of materials allows the desk to fit easily into both residential interiors and contemporary offices or professional studios.
A Desk Designed for Contemporary Work
Its aesthetic component is complemented by a reflection on modern ways of working.
In a context where technology, communication and constant stimuli can make it difficult to maintain concentration, Bridge is conceived as a dedicated space for work, creativity and productivity.
The desktop provides a generous surface for organizing the tools and devices needed throughout the day, while the solid structure and balanced proportions make it possible to create an orderly and functional workstation.
The concept of the “bridge” therefore also takes on a symbolic meaning: Bridge represents a connection capable of accompanying the transition between problems and solutions, ideas and realization, concentration and creativity.
Essential Design and Architectural Presence
Despite its strong conceptual reference, Bridge maintains a restrained and minimalist aesthetic.
The angled legs, slim desktop profile and metal arches define an immediately recognizable silhouette, yet one discreet enough to integrate into different types of interiors.
Bridge is therefore a desk suitable for home offices, professional studios and contemporary offices, where it can become both a functional element and a distinctive feature of the space.
