The Noray bed by WEWOOD, designed by Erno Dierckx in 2026, interprets the bedroom through a contemporary language defined by soft forms, natural materials and generous proportions.

The design was conceived not simply as a functional element, but as a visually reassuring and welcoming space in which the quality of the materials and the purity of the forms directly contribute to a sense of rest.

Large rounded transitions, solid wood legs with organic geometries and a fabric-upholstered headboard define a balanced composition that conveys strength without appearing visually heavy.

Softness as a Design Language

In Noray, softness is not merely an aesthetic choice, but becomes the principle through which the entire bed is constructed.

The wide rounded edges accompany the different transitions within the structure, eliminating visually rigid corners and creating a continuous, harmonious silhouette.

The solid wood legs also follow organic and generous forms, supporting the bed with a stable and natural presence.

Together, these elements convey a sense of calm and solidity, transforming the bed into the central point around which the entire bedroom can be organized.

The Natural Uniqueness of Wood

Wood plays a fundamental role in Noray’s identity.

The particular craftsmanship of the curved surfaces allows the natural grain to follow the profile of the structure, creating patterns that may vary from one element to another.

These differences are inherent to the material itself and make each bed visually distinctive.

The design therefore gives space to the authenticity of the wood, allowing the material to participate directly in the aesthetic identity of the product.

Fabric-Upholstered Headboard

The wooden structure is completed by a fabric-upholstered headboard with a tactile surface, designed to introduce additional warmth and softness into the composition.

The headboard creates a calm visual presence and defines the area dedicated to rest, connecting the bed with the wall and surrounding environment.

It is wall-mounted yet removable, allowing it to be integrated into the space without compromising the overall coherence of the design.

The dialogue between the texture of the fabric and the natural surface of the wood also creates a refined contrast between different materials.

Noray: A Stable Point Dedicated to Rest

The name Noray comes from the Spanish nautical term for a mooring bollard, the sturdy element installed on docks to which boat ropes are secured.

This reference introduces the concept of stability and anchoring into the design: a fixed point amid movement.

Applied to the bed, this idea takes on a particularly coherent meaning. Noray is conceived as the place to return to, a stable and protected space dedicated to rest.

The nautical reference therefore remains discreet and conceptual, becoming part of the product’s identity without translating into an explicit formal quotation.

Three Available Sizes

Noray is available in three versions designed to accommodate mattresses of different widths:

  • 160 × 200 cm
  • 180 × 200 cm
  • 200 × 200 cm

The structure maintains the same height and depth in all configurations, with the overall width changing according to the mattress size.

This variety allows Noray to be integrated both into more compact bedrooms and into generously sized master bedrooms, while preserving the proportions and identity of the design.

Designer

Erno Dierckx is a Belgian product and furniture designer based in Barcelona.

His design research often begins with the analysis of production processes, materials and construction systems, with the aim of identifying solutions that are both functional and aesthetically coherent.

His work focuses on creating carefully designed products intended to retain their value over time.

Noray reflects this approach through the relationship between construction, natural materials, proportion and comfort, transforming the bed into an element with a strong material presence while maintaining visual balance.
